Leeds Carnegie will continue their battle to avoid relegation from the Aviva Premiership this weekend, helped by inspiration from centre James Tincknell.

The 22-year-old Leeds player was released from hospital last Thursday after being in a coma for several weeks following a car accident. And he met up with his team-mates just 24 hours before Leeds moved off the Premiership basement through a thrilling 30-29 victory over Newcastle that sent the Falcons bottom.

Leeds head coach Neil Back said, "It was great for the guys to see James and wish him well. What he has gone through has really put things into perspective for all of us. Our medical team are working with James to make sure that he is looked after, but it will be a long road to recovery.

"The players have spoken about him a lot since the accident, and we have his shirt hanging in the dressing room at home games and his picture on the wall as we go out to the pitch. "We have a big job still on our hands to remain in the Premiership this season. But if we do, every player, including James, will have played a vital part."
