Lions flanker Michael Rhodes has had his six-week suspension reduced by one week.

The SANZAR Appeal committee, chaired by Nigel Hampton QC of New Zealand, with Terry Willis (Australia) and Jannie Lubbe SC (South Africa), ruled on Tuesday that Rhodes will now return to rugby on July 24 instead of July 31.

Rhodes, 23, was suspended after he committed a dangerous roll out on Highlanders' winger Siale Piutau in the clash in Dunedin on May 28. Rhodes' legal counsel asked for the ban to be reduced by two weeks, but the Appeal Committee opted for one week deduction from the original six weeks. Regardless of the reduction, Rhodes will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season.
