London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young has made his first appointment by bringing in Paul Turner as a consultant attack and skills coach.

Turner left his head coach role with the Dragons in February after an acrimonious few months at the Welsh region, which included an altercation with a journalist and a dismal run of results. He will now take up a role assisting Young, who joined Wasps from the Cardiff Blues in the summer.

"To join a club of Wasps' calibre is a great opportunity for me. Wasps have always been a club I admired and respected and I am delighted to be back coaching in the Premiership," said Turner, who spent 11 years working in the Premiership including time at Harlequins and Sale Sharks before his six-year association with the Dragons. "The club has clearly put together a strong squad for next season with some highly talented attacking individuals and I am looking forward to helping shape the structure of how the side plays."

Wasps have signed more than ten new players over the summer and Young believes Turner will play an important role in gelling the players together.

"We are really pleased to introduce Paul to our plans for the new season and we believe that he will be an important addition to the coaching set-up," Young said. "He will bring some fresh attacking ideas to the team and I think he can make a big impact in our style of play this season."
