Harlequins hooker Joe Gray has signed a new contract with the Aviva Premiership club that will keep him at the Stoop until the end of the 2013/14 season.

The 23-year-old, a former England under-20 hooker and Saxons squad member, has impressed at the London club since his arrival from Northampton Saints in 2010. And last season he made 27 appearances for the Quins, including starting in the Amlin Challenge Cup final victory over Stade Francais in May.

"I am really pleased to have re-signed with Quins. Since joining Harlequins two years ago, not only has my rugby improved but also my enjoyment for the game," Gray said. "The team plays a great style of rugby and I am excited about the future."

Director of rugby Conor O'Shea added: "Joe has made an incredible impact at Harlequins and in the Aviva Premiership, and finishing up in the Saxons group last season was just reward for his work."

Quins have also re-signed young lock Charlie Matthews, who has represented England under-18 and under-20 sides.
