Bath boss Sir Ian McGeechan is awaiting further news on the condition of Mark McMillan after the scrum-half suffered a neck injury in Saturday's Anglo-Welsh Cup win over the Newport Gwent Dragons.

McMillan was left in a crumpled heap 28 minutes into the game at Rodney Parade and, after being stretchered off, was immediately taken to hospital.

McGeechan revealed after the game that he did not now how long the player would be out of action for. "He has suffered a knee to the back of the head and has suffered bruising to his upper vertebrae," the former British & Irish Lions boss said.

Meanwhile, McGeechan was thrilled with his side's performance in Wales, with Bath running in seven tries in total as they romped to a fine away win.

"If we had been loose today, we would have found it very difficult," he said. "Because we controlled the ball, we controlled the possession and the way we played was a significant factor in the ultimate score.

"The players coming back [from the World Cup] will be coming into a really vibrant group. There has been a great attitude with these players and we have to keep taking it forward.

"We feel we have not done ourselves enough justice in the previous games this season, but today I felt we did ourselves that justice."
