Sam Domoni is expected to be sacked as Fiji head coach on the back of the country's dismal showing at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The South Sea Islanders bowed out of the tournament at the pool stages after winning just one game, against Namibia, and suffering heavy defeats at the hands of South Africa, Wales and, most disappointingly of all, Samoa.

The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) ordered an enquiry into the World Cup campaign and met in Suva on Thursday to discuss the findings of the review committee.

According to the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC), seven recommendations made by the panel have been approved by the FRU and it is thought that one of those recommendations was the dismissal of Domoni and all of his coaching staff.

Speaking to the FBC, FRU chairman Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga accepted his share of the responsibility for Fiji's poor showing in New Zealand but stated that neither he nor any of his fellow board members would be resigning from their positions.

The FRU chief also revealed that the Union intended to account for all of the government funding it received for Fiji's World Cup campaign.

"We haven't got our final financial report from the management on the government funds used, but we will certainly be going back to government with a full report on all the acquittals of the government funds used," Tikoitoga said.

"Having said that, we are fully aware that we are responsible to the taxpayers and we need to take some drastic measures to change things so that we can at least tell the government that the money they had given us was not totally thrown away."
