Glasgow Warriors' drive to tie its most promising youngsters down to new deals continues unabated with Ryan Wilson becoming the latest player to commit his future to the club.

Just a week after Rob Harley and Ruaridh Jackson agreed to extend their contracts with the Warriors, Wilson has decided to follow suit and sign on until the end of the 2013-2014 season.

"I love being part of Glasgow Warriors and living in this brilliant city," the No.8 told the club's official website. "There's a very positive feeling around the place at the moment, and I was anxious to be a part of what has the potential to be a great few years in the club's history.

"It's fantastic that the club are coming to players and looking to get them signed up quickly, and all the boys have been delighted to hear some very positive talk with regards to the role of the professional teams going forward."

Glasgow boss Sean Lineen admitted that he was desperate to negotiate a new deal with Wilson, who has made a big impact since arriving at Firhill last summer.

"Ryan has proved to be an excellent addition to the squad, and I'm delighted to have him signed up until at least the end of May 2014," he said. "He's a powerful player in our back-row and a good, vocal presence about the park.

"He knows he's still got things to develop in his game, but he shows a great willingness to learn and there's no doubting his desire to become the very best player he can be.

"We've got strong competition among the loose forwards now, and, as a coach, that's exactly what you want. It's terrific that young players see a real worthwhile project to buy into at Glasgow Warriors, and there's no doubt the club is heading in the right direction."
