Worcester Warriors scrum-half Jonny Arr has signed a new contract with the Sixways side.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Miles Benjamin, Marcel Garvey and Matt Mullan, the news will come as a welcome boost to the Warriors ahead of their trip to Stade Francais on Saturday evening. Warriors boss Richard Hill claimed on Wednesday that he believed it to be unlikely that both Benjamin and Garvey will be at the club next season though he was more optimistic over the prospects of retaining Mullan. But Arr's re-signing, alongside the new contract Shaun Perry signed earlier in the campaign, means they will retain both of their frontline scrum-halves ahead of next season.

"I'm pleased that Jonny has committed his future to us," Hill said. "We have a fantastic contrast with Shaun Perry and Jonny at the club, two contrasting scrum halves and it is important to have different players who can change games.

"Jonny's attributes are that he is very fast to the breakdown and gets the ball away very quickly. He also gives us a different option with his left foot kicking game which is an advantage.

"He has a very good all-round skill set and although he relies on his speed off the mark, rather than his brawn, he is also one of the best technical tacklers at the club. For his size he always puts his body on the line, which is crucial."

Arr added: "I am really pleased to sign the new contract at Warriors and commit myself to the club.

"It's great to be back playing in the Aviva Premiership this season and we have made real progress, particularly in the last few months when we have started to gain the level of results we know we are capable of.

"I have been connected with the club for a long time now, but there is no denying that this is the most exciting period as we look to push up the league table and achieve the ambitions we all share for Warriors."
