Blues wing Rene Ranger will face trial in August three years after being charged with injuring with intent.

Ranger is charged over an assault on a man which took place outside a pub in Mangawhai in August 2009. The victim lost two front teeth and needed stitches to his forehead following the attack. Ranger was arrested several weeks later charged with injuring with intent and the court date has now been confirmed for August 2012.

At the time of the incident, Ranger said: "Firstly, I'd just like to say that I am disappointed that I was involved in something and it has got to this stage. It is not good for me, my family and not fair on the team.

"It is now in the court's hands and I've just got to get on and do my job and do what's best for this team."
