Trinder undergoes surgery on fractured jaw

Gloucester centre Henry Trinder has been forced to undergo surgery following Saturday's victory over Harlequins.

The centre sustained a fractured jaw during their 29-23 win after clashing heads with Ugo Monye and will miss four to six weeks of action as a result. The 22-year-old revealed the injury on Twitter when he said that an x-ray on Sunday morning had confirmed the fracture.

Trinder was released from hospital on Monday and said on his Twitter account: "Just got out of the hospital with four screws and a metal plate, thanks to everyone who looked after me had a comfortable stay #morphine."

The centre also had eight stitches administered to a head wound during the match. Gloucester are said to remain hopeful that he will be back in action for the Cherry and Whites before the end of the current campaign.
