Melbourne Rebels second-row Adam Byrnes has been cited for alleged eye-gouging during the Super Rugby clash with the Waratahs.
Byrnes will appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing on Sunday March 4 to answer a charge of making contact with an opponent's eye in contravention to Law 10.4 (m).
The lock is alleged to have eye gouged Waratahs centre Tom Carter during the Rebels' 35-19 defeat at AAMI Park on Friday. He was issued a white card by referee Bryce Lawrence under the new on report system following a complaint by Waratahs skipper Daniel Halangahu.
