The Worcester Warriors have turned to Nigel Redman as their new forwards coach.

Redman previously held the academy manager post at Sixways but left in 2004 to take up a role with the Rugby Football Union and has held the position of elite coach development manager since 2008. Redman in his playing heyday was a towering second-row and won 20 caps for England.

He will now work alongside former Bath team-mate Richard Hill and takes on the role that Phil Davies had prior to his move to the Cardiff Blues.

The Warriors' MD Charlie Little is looking forward to utlising Redman's wealth of experience in helping develop the side's forwards. "Nigel in his previous roles with the RFU has proven himself to be technically a very good coach," Little said. "He's also worked very closely with other sports in terms of delivering his coaching philosophy to elite athletes. He is very well regarded by the RFU and young English players, the likes of Matt Mullan and Matt Kvesic who have worked with him before.

"Nigel has a point to prove about delivering in the Aviva Premiership which is something that we like. He will help develop the right culture and values and instil the right balance in the squad.

"He is also been successful as a player and coach and will bring that mentality to the club. We also know he will be able to work closely with Richard Hill, Phil Larder and the new attack coach which will be appointed imminently."
