Christian Wade has capped a brilliant 24 hours with putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal with London Wasps.
Wade made his senior debut for England against the Barbarians on Sunday and impressed in the red rose shirt as he crossed for a try in the second-half and helped guide the national side to a resounding 57-26 win. And it has been a remarkable season for the 21-year-old who scored 14 tries in 20 appearances for Wasps.
Despite continuing question marks surrounding their financial future, Wade, who finished the campaign as the Premiership's second highest try-scorer, had no hesitation in re-committing his future to the club on a contract that takes him up to the summer of 2015.
"Wasps have been my only club and I'm looking forward to the next few years here," Wade said. "I've learned an awful lot this season and I'm excited about the squad we've got for next year where hopefully we can push on and improve on the pitch.
"Wasps are a great club for developing young players and I love playing regularly alongside the guys I have come through the academy with. In the next few seasons hopefully together and alongside some of the great signings we have made we can make a real impact in all competitions."
Director of rugby Dai Young is looking forward to seeing Wade develop at the club and building on his successful season. "Christian is a special talent and he has been outstanding for us this season," Young said. "As a young player he still has plenty to learn and he has a real appetite for continuing to develop and improve himself.
"We've got a great core of young English players emerging here who are only going to get better and better and it's great to get these guys committing their long-term futures to the club."
