Saracens skipper Nils Mordt is hoping that lightning will strike twice in Friday night's JP Morgan 7s Series final at the Rec.

The 28-year-old utility back was a member of the Sarries side that took the inaugural title on the same ground two years ago, and is out to ensure that they produce another big display.

Sarries are up against Gloucester and Sale in Pool A, while London Irish take on London Welsh and hosts Bath in Pool B. Mordt is joined in the side by first-team stars Chris Wyles and James Short, as well as powerful No.8 Jackson Wray and rugby league convert Joel Tomkins.

"Playing here two years ago was absolutely brilliant, even more so because we were lucky enough to get the win," Mordt said. "When you come down to Bath, you expect an awesome crowd and it always seems to deliver. I have always loved 7s, so being a part of this has been extremely enjoyable.

"Lining up alongside the young guys has been really fun as well, although it makes you feel pretty old when you come off at the end of a game and all of them look so fresh-faced.

"There is certainly some talent to look out for - Joel Tomkins is coming into the squad and it will be interesting to see what he can do in a bit of space. We are just focusing on our performance. We are going to go hard and try to play at our very best.

"It would be fine if we came up short, as long as we have given everything. If our best is enough to win, that is a big pat on the back for us and the whole club will get a boost."
