Cardiff Blues boss Phil Davies is adamant that he will not walk away from the region despite seeing his team leak nine tries to Leinster at the weekend.

The Blues have lost both of their opening Heineken Cup matches and have three wins from seven in the RaboDirect PRO12. Davies is relatively new to his post as director of rugby of the Blues having taken the job back in May. But having slumped to five consecutive defeats, the pressure is on Davies to stop the rot at the Cardiff Arms Park.

His team boast the likes of Jamie Roberts, Welsh skipper Sam Warburton and Leigh Halfpenny but they are likely to miss the next six or so weeks of action due to international commitments. And despite their absence, Davies is optimistic that he can turn around his team's fortunes.

"I am not going to give up, not after nine games," Davies told Wales Online. "Nobody is putting any context on this. Everybody knows where we are with the situation. We have lost an incredible amount of experience. These young fellas are standing up and trying things.

"Lots of them are in different positions to where they were in the squad before. They have been pushed to the front. We've just got to keep working with them and keep pushing on. They have plenty of ideas and plenty of determination and we keep looking at ways to improve.

"It's not pleasant at the moment, but better results will come."
