Ospreys second-row Lloyd Peers has been rewarded for his impressive performances this season with a first professional contact with the club.

The 21-year-old who rose through the youth ranks at the region and also captained Wales at age-grade level signed a two-year deal that will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2015. He made his debut for the side in the LV=Cup defeat to Exeter Chiefs last season and was rewarded with further opportunities after injury hit the first choice pairing of Ian Evans and Alun Wyn Jones.

"The Ospreys are my home region and I've come through the age grade system here so this is the next big step for me," Peers said. "In my position, where there are quality international players ahead of me, I'm definitely learning from the best, people who have been there and done it for the Ospreys and for Wales. It's a great place for me to learn my trade in the second row."
