New South Wales Waratahs have announced this morning that Sitaleki Timani has been ruled out of Friday night's Super Rugby clash with Melbourne Rebels at Allianz Stadium in Sydney.

Timani suffered a corked thigh in the Waratahs' 25-17 loss to Queensland last weekend.

Wallabies giant Timani was originally named on the bench for the match against the Rebels, but coach Michael Cheika confirmed on he was now out.

"He just wasn't right and it's only early in the season so Greg Peterson will take his place on the bench," Cheika said.

Waratahs - revised line-up: Israel Folau, Tom Kingston, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Tom Carter, Drew Mitchell, Bernard Foley, Brendan McKibbin, Wycliff Palu, Michael Hooper, Dave Dennis (capt), Kane Douglas, Mitchell Chapman, Sekope Kepu, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Benn Robinson. Replacements: John Ulugia, Jeremy Tilse, Paddy Ryan, Greg Peterson, Lopeti Timani, Matt Lucas, Ben Volavola.
