Scrum Sevens: Cross-Channel conflict

We love a bit of biff at ESPNscrum HQ and we know you do too.

There were laughs and gasps aplenty as we recently delighted in the genius that was Fox Sports' recent Top 5 - 'Don't Argues' and in tribute, the latest Scrum Sevens also delves into hand-off heaven.

We've got some bosh from Bastareaud, a no-nonsense run from North, Ferris at full steam, Mumm making mincemeat, a Savea slap and a lesson from Lomu - but which gets your vote as the best?

"Bastareaud - oooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

Surely only a fool would get in the way of the 6ft tall and 17 and a half stone wrecking ball that is Toulon centre Mathieu Bastareaud?

Step forward - then fly in the opposite direction - Grenoble fly-half Blair Stewart.

"A train with no station"

Injury woe has denied us the sight of Ulster and Ireland flanker Stephen Ferris with a full head of steam for too long now and we can only hope he is soon back to doing what he does best. Scarlets' Rhodri Williams did his best to derail his rival during a PRO12 clash a couple of years ago while team-mate Viliame Iongi just opts to get out of the way of the "train with no station".

George 'Jonah' North

There are two big reasons why the Scarlets and Welsh rugby in general want to keep hold of international wing George North - power and pace. Clearly not one to wait for a gap to appear in a defence, North takes the direct route straight through Ireland's Fergus McFadden during last year's Six Nations.

It's so good we had to give it another airing. Waratahs lock Dean Mumm - currently playing for Premiership side Exeter - sent Sharks flanker Marcel Coetzee flying into the air and then the turf during their Super Rugby clash last year. Perfectly legal and surely the greatest fend ever seen?

Stiff-arm Savea and hot stuff from Hosea

This sensational example of physical prowess from New Zealand's Hosea Gear has had plenty of air time thanks largely to the fact it was nominated for the IRB's most recent Try of the Year honour. And while it is a great try, it is a sensational hand-off - just ask Ireland's Keith Earls - if he can remember. We've also got a lot of respect for Julian Savea's recent 'sit down' to All Blacks team-mate Israel Dagg.

"It's like watching Jonah Lomu"

And don't think big hits such as these are the preserve of the elite - check out this beauty courtesy of South West Division - Tribute Somerset 2 South side Crewkerne RFC. The opposition scrum-half runs into a Crewkerne prop masquerading in a No.9 shirt. We were particularly taken by the sympathy offered by supporters of both sides.

"He's gone over three people"

And how could we not include who Fox Sports' Sean Maloney rightly called, "the CEO, the president, the managing director and the tea boy at Don't Argue central" - All Blacks legend Jonah Lomu. The giant inflicted plenty of pain around the rugby globe in his pomp but arguably never more than when he quite literally steamrollered England at the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Mike Catt look away now.
