Buxton lined up for Gloucester return

Ex-forward Pete Buxton has been lined up as Gloucester's new academy manager, according to reports in the Gloucester Citizen.

Bristol announced Buxton's shock retirement from the game on Monday. The news came after Buxton penned a two-year deal with Bristol after turning out for Gloucester over the past 11 years. But before he took to the field for Andy Robinson's side, Bristol announced they had agreed to terminate his contract immediately.

And with Gloucester currently without an academy manager, with Andrew Stanley having taken up the forwards coach role with the Cherry and Whites, Buxton seems to be in line to take up the position. If he does get the job, then he will be just one of a number of Gloucester players who have progressed from the pitch to the club's backroom staff. Alex Brown and Mike Tindall are both in the management team and Buxton looks set to join them.
