Gloucester have turned to British & Irish Lions legend Mike Teague for inspiration ahead of the weekend's Heineken Cup match against Munster.

Gloucester are enduring a miserable season and sit ninth in the Aviva Premiership but still have an outside chance of progressing through their pool in Europe. Gloucester must beat Munster on Saturday to stand any chance of securing a spot in the quarter-finals and as they seek to bounce back from a poor loss to Saracens last weekend, coach Nigel Davies has brought in Teague.

Teague is no stranger to what it means to play for Gloucester having turned out 291 times for the Cherry and Whites and Davies is hopeful his words of wisdom will hope fire up his under-performing side.

"We spent a lot of time going through the wreckage of Saracens and anybody who saw the game will know we just didn't turn up," Davies told the Gloucester Citizen. "It was hugely disappointing because in the vast majority of cases, even though we are nowhere near where we need to be as a team, we have been competitive in matches but we were just nowhere near it.

"It's no secret that we didn't respect the environment last week. We've looked to do things differently for Munster. Mike Teague is coming in to say a few words to the boys and present the jerseys today and that will add gravity to the situation. We're also coming into the ground in a bus together."
