Heineken Cup 'a hugely complicated problem'

WRU chief executive Roger Lewis admitted the ongoing row over the future of the Heineken Cup was a hugely complicated problem for all concerned and that another meeting was planned this week to try to find a resolution.

His comments come against reports the four regions have reached an agreement to play in an expanded Aviva Premiership from next season.

"Europe is a sum of many moving parts, it's not just a discussion between ourselves and the four regions," Lewis told the BBC. "It involves all six countries and some within the six countries have different agendas.

"We have to recognise the contractual positions that we've all arrived at and we have to recognise our responsibilities and liabilities to the stakeholders who, legally, we have entered into contractually binding arrangements with."
