Pat McCabe has continued to impress after his return from a broken neck, dominating the Blues in Canberra with two-tries. McCabe was a star for the Brumbies and earned his place at the top of the Greg Growden medal count alongside Rebels' Scott Higginbotham for round 8.

An inspiration for his side, McCabe has all but cemented the No12. Jumper and has most certainly entered Ewen McKenzie's thoughts for a Wallabies return. Nic White also polled well after his strong efforts, leading the pack around the park.

Although his side let the win slip from their grasp, Scott Higginbotham proved to be a jack of all trades, making his presence felt all around the field with barnstorming runs, intercepts and a chip-kick that set up a try. Higginbotham was not the only Rebel to impress with Jason Woodward continuing to prove his mettle, scoring a try with three minutes remaining and landing the sideline conversion to put the Rebels back in the chase.

The Waratahs bagged the first Australian win in South Africa for 2014 and proved the side did not need Folau to win. Five players proved their worth earning points, three of which came from the forward pack, but Kurtley Beale did not figure in the tally after his playmaking role in fullback.

Unfortunately for the Reds, only two players figured in the tally after they lost to the Force a side that Growden wrote in The Growden Report, are the "the masters of minimalist football". Beau Robinson topped the points for the Reds after he produced one of his best performances, but for the rest of the side Growden wrote, "After that performance, the Reds are forced to take the Dunce's hats off the heads of the New South Wales Waratahs."
