Newcastle have signed Calum Green from Leeds Carnegie, with the second-row joining the Falcons on a two-year deal in time for next season.

Since moving to Leeds from Leicester in 2012, Green has made 38 appearances for the West Yorkshire club, featuring heavily in their battle for a play-off spot in this year's English Championship.

Green said: "I'm looking forward to moving to Newcastle Falcons in the summer. I've enjoyed my time at Leeds and I will be doing everything I can to help them in the end of season Championship play-offs.

"Newcastle is an exciting challenge for me and it will be great to team up with Dom Barrow again, a player I know very well from his days at Leeds."

Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards said: "Calum has already shown that he is more than capable of performing in the Aviva Premiership during his time with Leicester, and I'm delighted that he has made the decision to move to Newcastle.

"His strong displays for Leeds over the last two seasons have really caught our eye and he is at a good age with an amazing amount of potential. He is a fantastic signing."
