An outstanding performance by Waratahs flanker Michael Hooper against the Hurricanes has enabled him to extend his lead in the Greg Growden Medal. In one of the best backrow efforts of the season, Hooper polled 8.5 votes to build a substantial lead.

Hooper has now polled in seven Super Rugby matches this season, and is a prime reason for the Waratahs move towards the top of the ladder.

Several of the best Australian performances over the weekend came from those who were on the reserves bench. Ben Daley, Pat McCabe and Will Skelton, who were all selected among the replacements, had outstanding second halves for their respective Australian provinces, and all received points.

Skelton is now hovering in second spot with Force No 8 Ben McCalman.
