Former Ireland international Paddy Wallace will retire from rugby at the end of the season, his province Ulster have announced.

Wallace, who has 30 Ireland caps and is Ulster's all-time appearance record holder, began his career at fullback and fly-half, but in recent years moved to inside centre. The 34-year-old was part of Ireland's 2009 Grand Slam side and won a Magners League title in 2006.

Wallace's appearances over the last 18 months have been severely restricted by injury, with his last match coming against Zebre in December 2013.

"I have been happy to call Ulster my home for all my life and to play at the one province for a whole career is something that is really special," said Wallace. "Professional rugby is all I have known for the past 14 years. I am going to miss playing at Ravenhill, the fans and everything involved with being a rugby player.

"However, I have lots of fond memories. I have had a great career and I wouldn't change anything for the world."
