Constantly looked down upon as weak scrummagers, Sekope Kepu said it was up to the players to fix the opinions and believes the side is "in a good space but you can't get complacent". In a dour contest, the Wallabies' scrum was one of the few high notes to come out of the win, and helped the Wallabies in their bid to end perceptions that they are weak scrummagers.

"It is up to us to fix that. The Australian scrum has always been talked about and frowned upon and all that," Kepu said. "We just have to take it by the balls, and just have that attitude to take guys head-on, and not take a backward step. We are in a good space but you can't get complacent. You can't think you're good enough or you will fall behind. They will come out firing next week, so we have to come out firing as well."

But Kepu has said the Wallabies tryless second Test win over France was "more satisfying" than their 50-point rout a week earlier in Brisbane. Able to turn the tables around on France, they secured clean ball at all of their scrums and hindered France from doing the same.

"In Brisbane we didn't finish off the way we wanted to, and as a pack we need to get that respect from everyone," Kepu said. "I think we are moving in the right direction to doing that. I thought we muscled up and fronted up."

Certain the visitors' would target the scrum and use the rolling maul after both worked well late in the first Test, the Wallabies held firm in both areas and gained respect for their consistent strength upfront.

"The confidence is there," Kepu said. "To grind away a win, it is probably one of those ones that's probably better for you. 6-0, with all those 50-50s [referee calls], it was a tougher battle. I felt like it is more satisfying [than Brisbane]. Scrums were a really hard-fought battle, and I felt like we did a good job.

"We made sure we stayed disciplined and scrummed as an eight and as a front row. We just tried to scrum through the pressure and it paid dividends at the back end there. "They had fresh guys come on and we still pushed through them. It was a satisfying result."
