Bath sign Grant Shiells from Newcastle

Grant Shiells will join Bath next season, adding to their options on the loosehead side of the scrum.

Shiells, 24, made more than 50 appearances for Newcastle Falcons where he established a reputation for his scrummaging prowess and powerful performances. He has also represented Scotland at Under-19, Under-20 and 'A' levels.

"[Bath have] got a great coaching team and are clearly building towards the future," he said. "There are some very talented players in the squad, and I'm looking forward to getting involved and developing myself as a player."

Neal Hatley, Bath's forwards coach, said Shiells was "a talented young player who already has a good amount of Premiership experience … we see him fitting in well with the club and our plans for the future. He's got a lot of potential in him, and we're looking forward to seeing him push on."
