Russian clubs Slava Moscow and Kuban Krasnodar are to take part in the 2014 World Club 7s tournament which will be held at Twickenham over the weekend of 16-17 August. Kuban Krasnodar are returning to Twickenham to defend the trophy they won last year, but it will be a first appearance for Slava Moscow.
Twelve teams from seven countries will take part in the tournament. All teams will compete against each other on the first day before dividing into three Cup competitions on the Sunday.
The Russian sides will join Cardiff Blues as well as the Bulls, Auckland, NSW Waratahs, Western Provence, Buenos Aires, New York City 7s and Seattle as the clubs announced so far.
"I've always been confident our clubs are better than countries and people recognise and was delighted the two Russian teams performed so well last year, especially on the second day of the tournament," said Kuban Krasnodar, Russian board vice-president. "The players from Slava and Kuban know they are coming to one of the most iconic stadiums in the world and for them, the occasion will be fantastic. I am sure those involved will progress because you can't help but progress on a stage like that."
