Alby Mathewson and Sias Ebersohn are in line to return from their respective hip and biceps injuries when Western Force play the Brumbies in their do-or-die Super Rugby match at GIO Stadium in Canberra on Friday.

Michael Foley named the star halves on the bench while making two changes to his starting side for a match the Force must win if they are to claim their first finals berth.

Brynard Stander will make his second start of the season after being named to replace suspended Hugh McMeniman on the blindside flank, in the only change to the starting pack, while Junior Rasolea returns to outside centre in which position he started every match before breaking a wrist against Queensland Reds in week six.

Chris Alcock has also been named to make his first appearance since the Force's last match against the Brumbies, in Perth in week three, after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Foley says his side is determined to build on last week's win against Queensland.

"The simple equation is: we win and we're in control of our own destiny" he said.

Force: Jayden Hayward; Dane Haylett-Petty, Solomoni Rasolea, Chris Tuatara-Morrison, Nick Cummins; Zack Holmes, Ian Prior; Ben McCalman, Matt Hodgson (captain), Brynard Stander; Wilhelm Steenkamp, Sam Wykes; Kieran Longbottom, Nathan Charles, Pek Cowan. Replacements: Heath Tessmann, Tetera Faulkner, Oliver Hoskins, Adam Coleman, Chris Alcock, Alby Mathewson, Luke Burton, Dillyn Leyds/Sias Ebersohn.
