Imminently departing lock Kane Douglas is determined to make sure his next game for the New South Wales Waratahs won't be his last. Douglas, who's set to play in Saturday's all-Australian Super Rugby semi-final against the Brumbies in Sydney, is joining Irish side Leinster once his NSW commitments are over.

The reliable workhorse and 14-Test Wallabies player has been the ever-present ironman in the Waratahs second row engine this season. He has started every Super game, while newly minted Wallaby Will Skelton and Springbok enforcer Jacques Potgieter have had to share starts in the other lock spot. A loss to the Brumbies at Allianz Stadium would end his Waratahs commission a week earlier than he would like.

"I want to try and make it not be the last one this week," Douglas said. "Hopefully I can go out with a bang before I head off."

While the Waratahs lineout misfired in their last game against Queensland, Douglas expected it would function better against the Brumbies.

"We're pretty confident that we've done enough last week and then we'll do a bit more this week," Douglas said. "We're confident on Saturday that we'll be pretty good in the lineouts."

Douglas believed the lineout problem against the Reds was at least partly due to how slow the Waratahs were in setting it up.

"They had time to read and get up in front of us, so we've got a few new options and we've done a bit of training on that," he said.

While NSW scored a crushing 39-8 win over the Brumbies in Sydney last month, Douglas expects to face a very different and much stronger team this weekend. The Brumbies should have the services of five players, four of them Wallabies, who missed their last clash.

"They will have a bit more structure with (five-eighth) Matt Toomua back," Douglas said. "I'm sure they will be better but I'm hoping that we're better as well. We've had that last week off to work on a few things and keep the minds fresh."
