Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has brushed aside rumours that the club will sign Australia fullback Israel Folau after next year's Rugby World Cup.

Responding to recent speculation in the Australian media that Folau was being offered a huge sum to sign, Boudjellal told La Provence that was not going to happen.

"We haven't made an offer of €1.7 million," he said. "You know what, the day when I offer €1.7 million to a rugby player, I'll need to be locked up."

He said that while Folau was a brilliant fullback "we already have Delon Armitage, Leigh Halfpenny and have just signed James O'Connor. We're not doing badly. If we paid €1.7 million to one player then that would leave a big gap elsewhere."
