Fraser Balmain struck back to make it 12-12 at the break but Nottingham scored two quick-fire tries early in the second-half with Smit and O'Neill both grabbing their second of the match. Sam Harrison scored a late consolation for Leicester but they could not get over to give themselves a shot at the posts for the draw.

The Aviva Premiership champions Northampton were in action and their youthful team beat Rotherham 33-28 at Franklin's Gardens. The Saints scored five tries in total with Teimana Harrison, Howard Packman, Reece Marshall, Christian Day and a penalty try helping bring up their total while Rotherham grabbed four of their own.
