Nick Cummins, who often left English-speaking journalists bewildered with his responses, has made an immediate impression on his arrival to play in Japan with the local media, albeit with almost inevitable confusion resulting.

In his first TV interview he left all but the most fluent viewers bemused when he said. "I just watched the first game and the boys are running around like a horse upstairs. Power packed. Tackle low, tackle hard. Looking forward to it." He subsequently posted the video to his Instagram account with the comment: "Nearly fluent."

He also gave an interview to a local magazine which put him on the front cover, albeit with a headline calling him the "Honey Budger". He posted a response in which he said "the journo was as confused as a goldfish with dementia".

Cummins has played two warm-up matches for Coca Cola West Red Sparks, although he was not included in the squad for their first league match last weekend.
