Saracens sign Romanian back

Saracens have announced the signing of Romania international Catalin Fercu.

The 28-year-old back will move to the Premiership club from Timisoara Saracens at the end of this month. He is the first player to have gained a contract through the Saracens Global Network, an initiative that sees Saracens support eight partner clubs, including Timisoara Saracens, through coaching assistance, kit provision and community programmes.

"Catalin made a strong impression when he played for us against Gloucester in May and we are delighted he has now agreed to move to north London," Saracens rugby director Mark McCall said. "He is strong, tenacious and skilful, and is equally capable on the wing and at full-back."
