Munster playmaker JJ Hanrahan has been linked with an end-of-season move to Northampton Saints.

The Irish Times claims the Saints are closing in on Hanrahan's signature and have reportedly tabled an offer of £150,000 a year for his services. The news would come as a huge blow for Munster as he is one of the province's most promising players.

Hanrahan, 22, has found his first team opportunities limited this season with coach Anthony Foley favouring a 10/12 partnership of Ian Keatley and Denis Hurley. Hanrahan was on the bench for Saturday's loss to Clermont but was not given the chance to impress.

Ahead of this weekend's return leg in Clermont, Munster will be without Gerhard van der Heever due to a knee injury while they will monitor Dave Kilcoyne's knee injury. James Cronin is also a doubt while Robin Copeland, Paddy Butler, Eusebio Guinazu and Andrew Smith will all continue to integrate in to training this week.
