Toulouse boss Guy Novès says he is pleased to be linked with the France job and has left the "door ajar" for any approach.

The bookies favourite to succeed Philippe Saint-André as France coach is Raphaël Ibanez but Novès has emerged as another potential candidate. He has experienced unrivalled success at Toulouse in his two decades at the club having guided them to nine French titles and four European cups.

He was offered the job four years ago but turned it down to stay at Toulouse. But with Saint-Andre set to leave his post in charge of the French side after the forthcoming World Cup, Novès is pleased to be one of the names in the frame.

"I never said I wasn't interested," Novès told RTL. "I'm pleased to hear that Guy Novès is one of the people who is in contention to take over as France coach. I was offered the job four years ago. At that time I refused for strictly personal reasons. Now I'd say the door is ajar. We'll see later."
