His form has attracted the attention of All Blacks coach Steve Hansen and now half-back Brad Weber has signed a new deal with the Chiefs. The 24-year-old will stay with the franchise for another two years as will loose forward Johan Bardoul and lock Michael Allardice, whose season was ended after suffering a knee injury against the Hurricanes.

Weber's form has kept All Black Augustine Pulu on the bench for much of the season and has pushed him into the reckoning for the third half-back spot for the World Cup.

"I am really happy at the Chiefs and didn't want to leave. We have consistency in coaching, which is important and I enjoy the family atmosphere. It is a very challenging environment, but I believe that is really good for my rugby," he said.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie was happy that the trio had agreed new deals.

"They're all good men with an excellent work ethic who have made big shifts in their game. We're rapt these men have committed long term," he said.
