Canada have received a welcome boost with the news second-row enforcer Jamie Cudmore is set to be fit for the Rugby World Cup.

Cudmore has been battling concussion problems and was forced to sit out the Pacific Nations Cup to continue his recovery with Clermont. He picked up the knock in Clermont's Champions Cup final loss to Toulon and sat out the Top 14 play-offs after receiving a second knock to the head in training.

Having spent the intervening period on the sidelines, Cudmore is now hopeful of forcing his way into the Canadian reckoning.

He told L'Equipe: "I've had the green light from the doctors to start playing again. I hope to play at the World Cup, if I'm picked."

If he is picked, this will be Cudmore's fourth World Cup. He currently sits on 33 caps.
