Wales have received a timely boost with the news Alun Wyn Jones, Samson Lee and Liam Williams are all set to be for their Rugby World Cup opener against Uruguay.

It has been a grim week of injury news for Wales and coach Warren Gatland with first-choice scrum-half Rhys Webb and star fullback Leigh Halfpenny both ruled out of the World Cup.

Williams is the likely replacement for Halfpenny and he is back in full training after picking up a foot problem in June while Jones was an injury doubt for the opener after injuring his knee against Ireland on August 29.

"Alun Wyn Jones is fine, Samson Lee and Liam Williams have played a full part in training. Samson has played a full part in scrummaging," Wales coach Rob Howley said. "I think it's fair to say Liam and Samson would have to play against Uruguay to be involved against England and they are likely starters against Uruguay. Time on the field is vital after so long out."

Howley added on Jones: "From what I am led to believe he will be fit for Uruguay."
