Scotland suffered a late injury blow ahead of their RBS 6 Nations clash with Wales as Sean Maitland was ruled out through injury.

Maitland had been named in Vern Cotter's side on Thursday but picked up a knock during the captain's run on Friday, and did not recover in time to feature at the Millennium Stadium.

Veteran wing Sean Lamont has been drafted into Scotland's starting XV with Ruaridh Jackson taking his place on the replacements' bench.

Maitland's withdrawal is a blow for Cotter, although the British and Irish Lions tourist has not been in the best form this season, scoring just one try in six Aviva Premiership appearances for new club London Irish.
