England call up Lloyd as cover

England have called up Leicester wing Leon Lloyd as World Cup training cover for David Rees. But England coach Clive Woodward has still to make a decision on whether Rees or his fellow injury victim, Saracens scrum-half Kyran Bracken, will be fit for next month's World cup.

Rees played 18 minutes of Saturday's final World Cup warm-up match against the Premiership All Stars at Twickenham, scoring a try while he was on the pitch, before a groin injury forced him off.

The Bristol player has a history of groin trouble, but Woodward will see how things go during the three days he will work with his World Cup squad this
week.

Were Rees to withdraw from World Cup contention, then Lloyd, who toured
Australia with England during the summer, is now a clear favourite to replace him.

Bracken, meanwhile, continues to receive treatment for a long-standing back problem, and uncapped Wasps scrum-half Martyn Wood is also training with the England squad this week, as he has done for most of this summer.
