Uruguayans change plans to allow extra training
September 24, 1999

Uruguayan coach Daniel Herrera has delayed his side's departure for Scotland, in order to give his players another day at home and to fit in an extra training session.
The squad was due to fly to the UK on Saturday, but the 24-hour delay means that they will be able to undertake an extra session in Montevideo.
"If we flew out on Saturday, I would not have been able to train the team that day. I'd prefer to have a very good training session at home, allow the players to spend Saturday night with their families and friends and then leave on Sunday for Edinburgh." said the 37-year-old coach.
With Scotland and South Africa also in their pool the South Americans are targeting their first game against Spain as the one they need to win. They recorded a 20-3 win over the Spanish in the recent L'Aquilla tournament in Italy but Herrera feels they cannot take too much comfort from that result. "We should not read too much into it. They were missing their linchpin and will have learnt from their mistakes," he said.
