Scotland's management are confident that centre Alan Tait will be fully fit for their opening game against South Africa on Sunday.
"Alan trained over the weekend. He's an old soldier and knows how to look after himself," said Scotland team manager Arthur Hastie.
The former rugby league star picked up an ankle injury playing against Edinburgh and is continuing to receive treatment.
Tait's experience is regarded as vital to a Scotland side already boosted by the recent return of inspirational flyhalf Gregor Townsend from injury and of centre John Leslie, who has been playing club rugby in Japan.
Scottish captain Gary Armstrong said: "It's great to see Gregor and John back for the World Cup. It's an added bonus."
