Pau full back, Nicolas Brusque has been call up as replacement for Thomas Castaignède in the French squad.
The French management announced the surprise decision at a press conference on Saturday morning.
Jean Luc Sadourny and Alain Penaud were both considered to be front runners for a return to the squad but team manager Jo Maso said "It would be bizarre to call on these players and ask them to be reserves and sit in the stand in a suit"
Although a regular full back at club level the France 'A' player can also play on the wing.
Thomas Lièvremont suffered a leg injury during last night's lacklustre performance and the French medical team will assess the injury over the next two days before deciding if they require a further replacement
