Australian players Toutai Kefu and Daniel Herbert were Monday both cited to appear before a disciplinary hearing following the Wallabies' World Cup win over Ireland in Dublin on Sunday.
Ireland's Trevor Brennan, who was involved in a flare-up with Kefu, has
also been cited.
Brennan and Kefu will answer charges of punching after an incident in the
second half of the Wallabies' 23-3 victory.
Irish centre Kevin Maggs was left dazed by a crunching tackle from Herbert in the same match and the Australian has been cited for a "high and dangerous tackle".
The hearings will be held at Twickenham on Tuesday.
Fijian winger Marika Vunibaka, who was sent off for head-butting against
Canada on Saturday, will have his case dealt with at the same time.
The Kefu-Brennan clash was captured in full by television and the Aussie
number eight could be clearly seen landing a series of blows to the Irishman's head.
Kefu, who scored three tries in Australia's opening victory over Romania, now risks a ban of two or three weeks.
Wales forward Colin Charvis was suspended for two weeks after being cited following Wales' World Cup opener against Argentina for what many observers believe was a less serious incident than the one involving Kefu and Brennan.
Argentina's Roberto Grau got a three week suspension for punching.
Kefu said in Dublin that he was not surprised to have been cited. Australian officials pointed out after the match that Welsh referee Clayton
Thomas had seen the incident and awarded a penalty to the Australians.
Asked whether his fight with Brennan was sparked by something said by the
Irishman, Tongan-born Kefu said: "I don't really want to make a comment about it. I'm going to find out more about the details later.
"They (tournament officials) will send the papers to the management and
we'll have a look at it."
Asked if he regretted the incident, he said: "Oh totally. I suppose I a bit
expected it (the citing)."
Asked if he was confident of being exonerated, he said: "I haven't seen the footage of it, so I can't really comment on it."
News of the citings of Herbert and Kefu comes as a double blow to the
Australians, who have also lost hooker Phil Kearns for the rest of the tournament and will be without skipper John Eales for 10 days.
Kearns, 32, will return home next week after suffering severe ligament
damage to a foot, while Eales has a minor groin strain.
