US Women head for Tri-Nations tournament

Lock Nancy Fitz heads a United States squad of 22 set to compete in a three-way international tournament hosted by New Zealand.
Following August's injury-time win over Canada, the US will continue rebuilding a side hit hard by since they finished as runners up at the 1998. Fourteen of the squad headed to New Zealand has 5 caps or less.

Thirteen of the squad took part in August's Can-Am, including front rower MA Sorensen, halfback Lisa Rowe, and center Patty Jervey. But flanker Dianne Schnapp heads the list of absentees, with fullback Laura Cabrera are also missing.

The USA, 1998 WRWC semi-finalists Canada, and world champions New Zealand will meet in a round-robin format, playing matches in Palmerston North between October 13 and 19.
