Unique Lions ball comes up for auction
October 12, 1999
A ball signed by every member of the 1994 unbeaten Lions team is to be auctioned for a Down's Syndrome charity
Team captain and Irish rugby legend Willie John McBride arranged the signing of the ball when the squad met for a 25th Anniversary celebration earlier this year.
McBride was asked to collect the signatures by a Belfast man who's three year old son, Ryan Craig, has Down's Syndrome.
Money raised will be split between the Down's Syndrome Association and a MENCAP pre-school nursery which Ryan attends.
Bids are being accepted by e- mail to swaights@downs- syndrome.org.uk.
Bids, once placed, are binding and the highest bidder will be informed by the end of February
