Argentina will play their home Rugby Championship match against Australia on Oct. 8 at Twickenham, it has been confirmed.

The game will be the first in tournament history to be held outside of the four core territories, and sees the two sides return to the scene of their 2015 Rugby World Cup semifinal.

UAR president Carlos Araujo, who first revealed talks with the Wallabies over staging the fixture in London two months ago, said: "Playing again at Twickenham, which is one of the main stages of rugby in the world, is fantastic for the UAR."

RFU chief executive Ian Ritchie said: "We were treated to a great match between these two teams in the Rugby World Cup and I'm sure that it's set to be another high octane encounter in the autumn."

Australia beat the Pumas to reach last autumn's World Cup final and ARU CEO Bill Pulver believes the match gives them another opportunity to showcase southern hemisphere rugby.

"Our recent broadcast agreement with Sky Sports also indicates there is huge interest in the tournament in the UK," said Pulver.

"From an ARU perspective this is another fantastic opportunity to showcase the Qantas Wallabies to our fans based in England, as well as thousands of new fans."

Tickets for the clash will go on sale on Friday, Apr. 8.
