South Africa star Bryan Habana will sit out their three-Test series against Ireland in June.

Allister Coetzee, the Springboks coach, confirmed the news at his unveiling on Tuesday saying Toulon winger Habana will continue focusing on Sevens with the hope of competing for South Africa at Rio 2016.

While Habana will be a notable absentee against Ireland, Coetzee has revealed he will be permitted to pick overseas-based players like his predecessor Heyneke Meyer did.

"The status quo for this year remains the same. So if I would like to use overseas-based players ... it's been done, arranged." Coetzee said on sport24.co.za. "Bar Bryan Habana. He's come out and played a bit of Sevens this year, so the only concession is made for Bryan. He won't be available for the incoming Test series."
