Scotland call for Shiel
Edinburgh
October 17, 1999

Graham Shiel the Edinburgh Reivers centre has been called into the Scotland squad to replace John Leslie.
Shiel, who made his test debut in the 1991 World Cup has 15 caps and also played in the 1995 tournament.
The 29-year-old has not played test rugby since the 1995 tournament but has been in impressive form for the Reivers recently.
Scotland manager Arthur Hastie said: "After considering all our options we chose Graham because he is an out and out centre who will slot easily into our team patterns."
Leslie damaged his ankle in the first game of the competition against South Africa and although original it was hoped he would be fit for the knock out stages he had to admit defeat and withdraw from the squad last week.
